Leah Watkins, RN chose to become a nurse after marrying her husband and moving from Florida Tennessee in 1977. Leah started her career out as a nurse’s aide at the old Perry Community Hospital. She later went onto become an LPN. She continued working at Perry Community Hospital and, Perry County Nursing Home. She worked 10 years as an LPN. She soon realized that she wanted to further her Career. Leah attended Columbia State Community College and received an associate degree in nursing and became an RN. Leah has been in the nursing field for around 40 years and has been with Perry Community Hospital for almost all of them. She has worked in the ICU, delivered babies and been an ER for a long time. She loves the excitement of fast pace the ER brings. She has worked as a charge nurse and ADON. You can now see Leah in many areas of the hospital. She is now the Director of Nursing for Perry Community Hospital. Through the years of being a nurse, she and her husband of 43 years, Nathan Watkins, have raised three beautiful daughters. They now have 5 precious grandchildren, three girls and two boys.
